Early lead not enough for the McAllen Thunder, drop 6-1 decision to the Edinburg Roadrunners

The McAllen Thunder (31-57) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 6-1 to the Edinburg Roadrunners (54-34) on Sunday.

A groundout by Eric Bloom gave the Edinburg Roadrunners the lead in the fourth inning.

Wilmer Pino put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Edinburg Roadrunners. He doubled in the third and fifth innings.

Julio Castro struck out seven hitters en route to the the Edinburg Roadrunners win. Castro allowed no earned runs on four hits and one walk over seven innings.

Alex Smith ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed five runs.

Luis Sumoza, Bloom and Pino helped lead the Edinburg Roadrunners. They combined for five hits and four RBIs.
