Polanco allows no runs to lead the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings past the Fort Worth Cats 5-3

Celson Polanco kept the Fort Worth Cats (46-37) off the board during his seven innings of work and the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings (48-35) beat the Fort Worth Cats, 5-3.

Polanco struck out seven and allowed no walks and six hits.

The Rio Grande Valley Whitewings held off the Fort Worth Cats, as the Fort Worth Cats were unable to overcome a five-run second inning deficit.

The Fort Worth Cats scored on a groundout by Chad Gabriel and a sacrifice fly by Antoin Gray in the eighth inning and an RBI double by Derek Marshall in the ninth inning. Despite their efforts, the Fort Worth Cats couldn't get over the hump.

Ruddy Yan got on base three times in the game for the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings. He scored one run and had one RBI. He singled in the first and fourth innings.

Casey Russell (1-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
