A loss looked likely for the DeLand Suns (2-1) when they trailed by one run in the ninth inning, but the DeLand Suns were able to capture the lead back with a a fielder's choice in the ninth inning, spurring the DeLand Suns to an 8-7 win over the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs (1-2) at Historic Sanford Memorial Stadi on Tuesday.

With the DeLand Suns trailing by one, Austen Barber came to the plate and hit into a fielder's choice, scoring Austin Jackson and Erik Lunde.

Brent Nelson racked up four RBIs on three hits for the DeLand Suns. He doubled in the eighth inning and singled in the seventh and ninth innings.

Despite the loss, the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs' Aaron Adams dominated the DeLand Suns' batters, giving up one run and striking out six.

Reily Monkman recorded his first win of the year for the DeLand Suns. He allowed four runs over two innings. Monkman struck out one, walked three and gave up two hits.

Anthony Figliolia (0-1) took the loss for the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
