Friday was a great day for Andrew Garner, as he hit two home runs to carry the Danbury Westerners (1-0) to a 14-4 victory over the North Adams SteepleCats (0-1) at Rogers Park.

Garner racked up six RBIs on two hits for the Danbury Westerners. He homered in the second and seventh innings.

Six runs in the first three innings helped the Danbury Westerners blow out the North Adams SteepleCats. and a groundout by Tom Zengel during the first inning and a home run by Garner in the second inning helped the Danbury Westerners put some runs on the board early.

The North Adams SteepleCats couldn't get anything going so long as Ben Brewster was on the hill. Brewster gave up just one hit, allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out seven during his six innings of work.

Adrian English racked up three RBIs on one hit for the North Adams SteepleCats. He homered in the ninth inning.

Brian Hunter was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed six runs in four innings, walked six and struck out four.
