The Newport Gulls' offense erupts for 14 runs in blowout victory over the Sanford Mainers

The Newport Gulls (4-1) continued to pile up the runs on Friday, scoring five runs in the last three innings, on the way to a 14-2 landslide win over the Sanford Mainers (1-2) at Cardines Field.

The Newport Gulls scored five runs in the seventh on , a two-run single by Kasey Coffman, an RBI double by Brett Winger, a groundout by Steve Anderson, and a groundout by Austin Slater.

Coffman racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Newport Gulls.

Daniel Wright picked up the win for the Newport Gulls. Wright allowed one earned run, five hits and two walks while striking out five over seven innings of work.

Jordan Hagel went a perfect 4-4 at the dish for the Sanford Mainers. He homered in the first inning and singled in the third, sixth, and ninth innings.

Rohn Pierce ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked three and struck out two.
