Jerrick Suiter had two extra base hits, helping the Thunder Bay Border Cats (27-30) to an 8-4 victory over the Mankato MoonDogs (38-19) on Monday at Subway Field.

Garrett Hughes kept contact to a minimum, striking out five the Mankato MoonDogs batters. Hughes allowed one earned run, four hits and one walk over six innings.

Cody Ferrell did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Mankato MoonDogs, reaching base two times. He doubled in the third inning.

Boomer Scarborough (1-1) took the loss for the Mankato MoonDogs. He allowed eight runs in four innings, walked three and struck out two.

The Thunder Bay Border Cats were sparked by Brett Kay and Suiter, who teamed up for three hits and four RBIs.
