The Santa Barbara Foresters (5-0) beat the St. Joseph Mustangs (4-1) 8-6 on Wednesday at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium behind Shane Hoelscher, who collected three hits.

The St. Joseph Mustangs' lineup had no answer for Albert Minnis. The St. Joseph Mustangs managed just one hit off of Minnis, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his 2 2/3 innings of work.

Kyle Simpson racked up two RBIs on three hits for the St. Joseph Mustangs. He singled in the first, fourth, and eighth innings.

Brandon Pierce improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Santa Barbara Foresters. He allowed one run over two innings. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered three hits.

Adam Maddox was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out three.
