A four-run eighth inning sealed a 9-3 win for the Swift Current Indians (16-14) over the Edmonton Prospects (6-24) on Thursday at Mitchell Field.
The game was back-and-forth heading into the seventh, with five lead changes.
Cody Phipps paced the Swift Current Indians at the plate. Phipps went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the seventh inning and tripled in the eighth inning.
The Swift Current Indians got the win thanks in large part to Alex Tufts's dominant, eight-strikeout performance. Tufts allowed two earned runs on seven hits and one walk over seven innings.
Brandon Compton (0-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out five, and allowed four runs.
