Hill begins his first season with the Ducks and in the Atlantic League. The southpaw joins the Flock with 10 years of Major League experience, including four with the Chicago Cubs (2005-08) and three with the Boston Red Sox (2010-12). He split time in 2014 with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and the New York Yankees, combining to post a 3.38 ERA in 16 games out of the bullpen. The Boston native has a career big league record of 24-22 with a 4.72 ERA and 451 strikeouts in 197 games (70 starts).

The 35-year-old began the 2015 season with the Triple-A Syracuse Chiefs in the Washington Nationals organization. He compiled a 2-2 record with a 2.91 ERA in 25 appearances, striking out 32 batters in 21 and two-thirds innings of work. In 2006, the University of Michigan alum was named a Triple-A All-Star by Baseball America after going 7-1 with a 1.80 ERA and 135 strikeouts in 15 starts with the Iowa Cubs. Hill was originally drafted by the Cubs in the fourth round of the 2002 amateur draft.
