Hayden is a switch-hitter who graduated from Lake Ginnivderra High School in Canberra. Australia. He hit .333 (4-12) in four games at Corban in 2014, with two doubles, two runs and five RBIs.

He played one season at Arizona Western College (2013) before transferring to Corban. He also played for the Australian National Team in the 2009 U-17 World Championships.
