Former White Sox Prospect and Ball State University alum Cal Bowling signed with the Boomers as a free agent on March 13, 2014.

Bowling, 24, spent the past two seasons with the White Sox after signing as an undrafted free agent out of Ball State. In 26 professional games, the six-foot-two right-hander owns a 5.23 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 41.1 innings pitched out of the bullpen. His best stint came at Single-A Kannapolis where he allowed just three runs over 6.1 innings to go along with six strikeouts.

A stellar 2010 junior season at Ball State propelled Bowling onto the radar for the Sox after he posted a 3.41 ERA over 14 starts and 89.2 innings, along with four complete games and a 5-5 record. Overall for his four-year collegiate career, Bowling appeared in 61 games with 45 starts and owns an 18-12 record. The Yorktown, Ind. native struck out 185 batters in 279.4 innings with a 4.86 ERA as a member of the Cardinals baseball team.
