A starter from day one as an outfielder at the University of Indiana, his home state where he was Mr. Baseball by the Indiana High School Baseball
Coaches Association after his senior year, and a definite power threat, Mathison ventures to Keene after his rookie campaign with the Hoosiers
that saw him start in 37 of his team’s first 39 games, appearing in every one. He notched his first career hit, a double, on February 19 at Clemson
and later connected on his first career home run against Missouri State on March 4. Mathison wound up going deep 10 times over his first 39
contests (and drove in 34 runs…finishing with a .273 average, 19 HR, and 58 RBI in 59 games), the second most on Indiana in that span, including once in both ends of a doubleheader against Xavier on March
20. He had nine multi-hit efforts at the time of writing, all from March 6 on, raising his average from .160 to as high as .262. Mathison, a business
management major, was ranked the No. 2 outfielder and No. 7 prospect overall in the state of Indiana by Perfect Game out of high school.
