Miguel Ausua is in his first year with the ThunderBolts in 2021 and third professionally. He was signed on November 4, 2020. Miguel's pro career began in 2018, when he was the 29th round selection of the Colorado Rockies in the Amateur Draft. He pitched for two years in the Rockies' system, peaking at Class A Asheville in 2019. He tossed in 31 total games (11 starts) across three levels in '18 and '19 and went 3-5 with a 5.65 ERA.

Ausua finished his college career at Oral Roberts University, where he spent two years, going a combined 19-5 with a 2.65 ERA. In both years with the Golden Eagles, he was named the Summit League Pitcher of the Year. After finishing with 11 wins and a 1.65 ERA as a junior in 2017, he was named an NCBWA Second Team All-American. He also spent two years at Panola College and went 4-4 there with a 6.67 ERA over 33 games (six starts). He went to high school at Escuela Superior Josefa Velez Bauza in Penuelas, Puerto Rico.
