The America East Rookie of the Year as a freshman last spring, Carmona is as good as they come in that conference – or the nation for that matter.
As a freshman, Carmona was also a First Team All-America East choice and a Louisville Slugger First Team Freshman All-American selection following a season in which he led the conference in batting average (.387) and on-base percentage (.456). He also totaled 12 doubles and six home runs and finished second for Stony Brook in hits (74) and RBI (48).
He followed up that campaign with another great spring as a sophomore this year, beginning the season hitting .368 in 35 games with 19 doubles, two triples, four home runs, and 28 RBI.
A four-year stud athlete at Hempstead High School in New York, Carmona earned two All-Conference selections and an All-County choice in baseball. In football, he was a three-time All-Conference honoree and he also lettered in track. Additionally, he did well in the classroom, earning All-Academic All-Conference honors as a senior. The person he most looks up to is his father, William, and the most impressive person whom he’s ever met is his mother, Maria.
