The Alameda Merchants fend off the California Glory's late push, hold on 2-1

The California Glory (17-10) weren't able to overcome the big hole they dug themselves into against the Alameda Merchants (9-10), and the California Glory lost 2-1 to the Alameda Merchants after falling behind by two runs in the first inning.

The California Glory scored one run in the seventh on an RBI single by Wade Morton. Despite their efforts, the California Glory couldn't finish the comeback.

Ryan Lacy was solid at the plate for the Alameda Merchants. Lacy went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first and third innings.

Matt Friedman had an impressive outing against the California Glory's lineup. Friedman held the California Glory hitless over four innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out six.

Justin King improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Alameda Merchants. He allowed one run over 2 1/3 innings. King struck out one, walked two and gave up three hits.

Anthony Caringi couldn't get it done on the mound for the California Glory, taking a loss. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out seven, and allowed two runs.
