The Maui Na Koa Ikaika survive the Hawaii Stars rally, escape with 8-6 victory

The Hawaii Stars (24-27) weren't able to come back from the big hole they dug themselves into against the Maui Na Koa Ikaika (31-26), and the Hawaii Stars lost 8-6 to the Maui Na Koa Ikaika after falling behind by six runs in the third inning.

The Hawaii Stars scored on a fielder's choice in the sixth inning, an RBI single by Reggie York in the eighth inning, and an error, an error, and in the ninth inning. Despite their efforts, the Hawaii Stars couldn't get over the hump.

Waylen Sing Chow had two extra-base hits for the Maui Na Koa Ikaika. He tripled in the second inning and doubled in the seventh inning.

Jessie Smith kept contact to a minimum, striking out six the Hawaii Stars batters. Smith allowed one earned run, six hits and two walks over six innings.

Arnoldo Ponce led the Hawaii Stars' offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He singled in the first and sixth innings.

Dallas Mahan ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his seventh loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in six innings, walked two and struck out one.
