Anthony Lopez was cold coming off the bench, but Lopez warmed up quickly as Lopez stroked a key pinch-hit single in the one to lead the Hawaii Stars (24-26) to an 8-5 win over the Maui Na Koa Ikaika (30-26) on Wednesday at Iron Maehara Stadium.
With the Hawaii Stars leading by one, Lopez came to the plate and singled.
Reece Alnas had two extra-base hits for the Hawaii Stars. He homered in the fourth inning, doubled in the sixth inning, and singled in the eighth inning.
Bryan Herrera picked up the win for the Hawaii Stars. Herrera pitched seven innings and allowed two earned runs, five hits and three walks while striking out five.
Nick Valdez reached base three times in the game for the Maui Na Koa Ikaika. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the fifth inning and doubled in the eighth innings.
Matt Walker (3-4) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
The Hawaii Stars' Dion Pouncil, Alnas and Matt Hibbert combined for seven hits and five RBIs.
