Tim Battle drove in the winning run to give the Edinburg Roadrunners (60-36) the lead in the sixth inning, as the Edinburg Roadrunners hung on to beat the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings (51-44) 8-4 on Monday.
Stantrel Smith singled to start the sixth. He then went from first to third on a single by Felix Molina. Finally, Battle came to the plate with the Edinburg Roadrunners trailing by one in the sixth inning, and singled, bringing home Smith.Luis Sumoza racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Edinburg Roadrunners. He singled in the seventh inning.
Eric Bloom brought the heat against the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings during his outing. The Rio Grande Valley Whitewings managed just two hits off of the the Edinburg Roadrunners' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his four innings of work.
