The Abilene Prairie Dogs seize victory thanks to late, drop the Fort Worth Cats 7-6

The Abilene Prairie Dogs (17-25) took the last of six lead changes in a back-and-forth affair against the Fort Worth Cats (24-18), securing a 7-6 victory on Saturday at LaGrave Field.

The Abilene Prairie Dogs pulled out the win thanks to a strong sixth inning. Scored Zach Welch and gave the Abilene Prairie Dogs the lead for good.

The Abilene Prairie Dogs held off the Fort Worth Cats, as the Fort Worth Cats were unable to overcome a two-run sixth inning deficit.

The Fort Worth Cats scored one run in the eighth on an RBI triple by Jon Dziomba. Despite their efforts, the Fort Worth Cats couldn't get over the hump.

The Abilene Prairie Dogs were led by Welch's hitting. Welch went 3-5 and scored three runs. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the sixth and seventh innings.

The Abilene Prairie Dogs got the win thanks in large part to Matt Larkins's dominant, five-strikeout performance. The Abilene Prairie Dogs' pitcher tossed four innings of shutout ball and allowed only four hits.

Steve Barnes couldn't get it done on the hill for the Fort Worth Cats, taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in five innings, walked three and struck out six.
