Joe Weik went 2-4 as the Abilene Prairie Dogs (6-9) took home a 6-1 victory over the McAllen Thunder (4-12) at Edinburg Stadium on Friday.
He singled in the second and ninth innings.The Abilene Prairie Dogs relied on Billy Petrick to eat up innings en route to the win. Petrick pitched eight innings and allowed one earned run, six hits and one walk while striking out three.
A bright spot for the McAllen Thunder in the defeat was Baron Short, who allowed only two runs while striking out six.
Short (0-2) was the game's losing pitcher.
