The Edinburg Roadrunners fend off the Fort Worth Cats' late push, hold on 7-5

The Fort Worth Cats (39-33) weren't able to come back from the big hole they dug themselves into against the Edinburg Roadrunners (43-29), and the Fort Worth Cats lost 7-5 to the Edinburg Roadrunners after falling behind by six runs in the seventh inning.

The Fort Worth Cats scored on a groundout by Derek Marshall in the seventh inning and an RBI single by Brandon Jones and a two-run single by Chuck Caufield in the eighth inning. Despite their efforts, the Fort Worth Cats couldn't finish the comeback.

Stantrel Smith went a perfect 4-4 at the plate for the Edinburg Roadrunners. He doubled in the seventh inning and singled in the first, fifth, and eighth innings.

Caufield racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Fort Worth Cats.

Matison Smith got his seventh win for the Edinburg Roadrunners despite allowing five runs over 7 2/3 innings. Smith struck out five, walked four and gave up eight hits.

Casey Russell was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked four, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
