The McAllen Thunder fend off the Edinburg Roadrunners' late push, hold on 6-5

The Edinburg Roadrunners (25-16) were never able to get over the hump and overcome their troubles against the McAllen Thunder (14-27) on Thursday, as the Edinburg Roadrunners fell 6-5 at Edinburg Stadium after falling behind by four runs in the second inning.

The Edinburg Roadrunners scored on a sacrifice fly by Felix Molina in the fourth inning and an RBI triple by Stantrel Smith and an RBI double by Vincent Blue in the eighth inning. Still, the Edinburg Roadrunners couldn't draw even.

Wilmer Pino racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Edinburg Roadrunners. He homered in the first inning.

Alexei Perez got his second win for the McAllen Thunder despite allowing five runs over seven innings. Perez struck out five, walked two and gave up seven hits.

Ryan Smith ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He allowed six runs in seven innings, walked one and struck out three.
