A walk-off ground out from Matt Thompson brought home the winning run for the Abilene Prairie Dogs (3-3) in a 3-2 victory over the San Angelo Colts at Cerro Colorado Stadia on Monday.
Thompson racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Abilene Prairie Dogs. He singled in the fourth inning.
Kyle Nichols paced the Abilene Prairie Dogs at the plate. Nichols went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He homered in the second inning and singled in the fourth inning.
Adam Rowe handled the San Angelo Colts (5-1)'s lineup with ease, racking up 12 strikeouts. Rowe allowed two earned runs on six hits and one walk over seven innings.
A bright spot for the San Angelo Colts in the defeat was Brian Henschel, who allowed only two runs while striking out five.
Scott Vander Weg improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Abilene Prairie Dogs. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered one hit.
The Abilene Prairie Dogs jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second. A solo home run by Nichols started the inning off.
