The Kitchener Panthers survive the Ottawa Fat Cats rally, escape with 6-4 victory

The Ottawa Fat Cats (18-18) were never able to get over the hump and get over their troubles against the Kitchener Panthers (17-19) on Sunday, as the Ottawa Fat Cats fell 6-4 at Ottawa Stadium: after falling behind by five runs in the third inning.

The Ottawa Fat Cats scored on an RBI single by LaDale Hayes and an RBI single by Hayes in the third inning, an RBI single by Hayes in the fifth inning, and an RBI double by Cody Mombourquette and a double by Mombourquette in the seventh inning. Despite their efforts, the Ottawa Fat Cats couldn't get over the hump.

The Kitchener Panthers were led by Darnell Duckett's hitting. Duckett went 3-5 and scored one run. He doubled in the seventh inning and singled in the third and ninth innings.

Mombourquette paced the Ottawa Fat Cats at the plate. Mombourquette went 3-4, drove in one and scored two runs.

David Huscko improved to 3-3 on the year by picking up the win for the Kitchener Panthers. He allowed four runs over 6 2/3 innings. Huscko struck out five, walked two and gave up eight hits.

Marc-Andr�� Major was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just 2 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
