After four lead changes in Friday's game at East Islip Marina Field #1, the IGA SOFTBALL (10-4) finally pulled out a 9-5 win over the Selden Stingrays (5-8).
The IGA SOFTBALL pulled out the win thanks to a strong third inning. A sacrifice fly by Brandon Goldeman scored James Fanning and gave the IGA SOFTBALL the lead for good.
The IGA SOFTBALL came out swinging, scoring five runs in the first inning to jump ahead of the Selden Stingrays early.
Fanning had three extra-base hits for the IGA SOFTBALL. He homered in the first inning, tripled in the third inning, and doubled in the fifth inning.
ryan noviello was solid at the plate for the Selden Stingrays. Noviello went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He tripled in the first inning and singled in the third inning.
Charlie Frey recorded his sixth win for the IGA SOFTBALL even though he allowed five runs over seven innings. Frey struck out two, walked two and gave up 11 hits.
Mark Zuccaro (4-7) took the loss for the Selden Stingrays. He allowed nine runs in six innings, walked none and struck out one.
Kevin Reim, Ryan Shaffer, Fanning and Rich Glock helped lead the IGA SOFTBALL. They combined for 10 hits and seven RBIs.
