The Big Blue (14-4) jumped out to an early lead on the Diamond Dawgs (11-7) and captured a 21-6 victory on Sunday at Shorefront Park.
The game was decided quickly as the Big Blue exerted their will early with 15 runs in the first three innings.
A two-run single by Patrick Colantuoni, a double by Mike Dawes, an RBI single by Kevin Korte, and an RBI double by Ron Morlock in the first inning and , a home run by Morlock, an RBI single by Sean Montalvo, a sacrifice fly by Chris Shull, a two-run single by Evan Shull, and an RBI single by Dawes during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Big Blue.The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to six lead changes in the game.
Morlock racked up five RBIs on four hits for the Big Blue.
Joe Ferrucci racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Diamond Dawgs. He homered in the first inning.
Christian Colantuoni got his tenth win for the Big Blue despite allowing six runs over four innings. He struck out none, walked four and surrendered six hits.
James Spera (2-5) took the loss for the Diamond Dawgs. He allowed 21 runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked five and struck out none.
The Big Blue easily handled the Diamond Dawgs pitching as seven hitters combined for 20 hits, 15 RBIs and 19 runs scored.
