The Saskatchewan (0-1) didn't put up much of a fight on Thursday, as the Alberta (1-0) cruised to a blowout 8-1 win in seven innings at BBoys Vaughan Grove two.

The Alberta scored three runs in the sixth on an RBI double by Josh Rice, an RBI single by Matthew Barry, and an RBI triple by Kurt Meeberg.

Austin Ely put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Alberta. He tripled in the fourth innings and singled in the fifth innings.

Kurtis Call racked up six strikeouts in the the Alberta win. Call allowed no earned runs on four hits and two walks over six innings.

Nick Anderson was effective even in defeat, mowing down seven the Alberta batters and allowing two runs.

Anderson (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher.
