The Willmar Stingers' late runs seal 9-2 blowout over the Thunder Bay Border Cats

A five-run explosion in the seventh inning led the Willmar Stingers (41-28) to a 9-2 win over the Thunder Bay Border Cats (32-37) at Bill Taunton Stadium on Saturday.

Brennan Moore racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Willmar Stingers. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the fourth and eighth innings.

Scott Lieser kept contact to a minimum, striking out seven the Thunder Bay Border Cats batters. Lieser allowed two earned runs, seven hits and no walks over 6 2/3 innings.

Phillip Lyons had a hot bat for the Thunder Bay Border Cats. Lyons went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He homered in the second inning and singled in the sixth inning.

Blake Fonfara was charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked six, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
