The Alexandria Beetles need walk-off single to beat the Mankato MoonDogs, 13-12

A walk-off single from Tanner Vavra brought home the winning run for the Alexandria Beetles (29-34) in a 13-12 victory over the Mankato MoonDogs (39-24) at Knute Nelson Memorial Park on Sunday.

Vavra racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Alexandria Beetles. He singled in the sixth and ninth innings.

Each team blasted the other's pitching, and there were 25 total runs and 26 hits during the game. Managers of the two teams seemingly emptied their bullpens in search of the win, as there were six pitchers used in the game.

Josh Carpenter had two extra-base hits for the Alexandria Beetles. He doubled in the fifth and sixth innings and singled in the seventh and ninth innings.

Alex Guilford got the win, running his season record to 5-2. He allowed one run over three innings. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered two hits.

Garrett Anderson was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.

The Alexandria Beetles' Ben Moore, Matt Lowenstein, Carpenter and Mike Morman combined for 12 hits and five RBIs.
