The Willmar Stingers (38-25) shut the door early on the Duluth Huskies (34-29), capturing a 9-3 victory on Saturday at Bill Taunton Stadium.

Nine runs in the first three innings allowed the Willmar Stingers to put the game away early.

A home run by Kenny Roberts during the first inning and an error in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Willmar Stingers.

Roberts racked up five RBIs on two hits for the Willmar Stingers.

Andre Wheeler looked sharp on the mound. Wheeler gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out five during his two innings of work.

Treysen Vavra was solid at the plate for the Duluth Huskies. Vavra went 3-5 and scored one run. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the fifth and seventh innings.

Michael Hahn got the win, running his season record to 2-0. He struck out two, walked two and surrendered two hits.

Josh Mooney couldn't get it done on the bump for the Duluth Huskies, taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in 2 1/3 innings, walked two and struck out two.
