Josh Scheffert went 4-4 at the plate, helping the Eau Claire Express (23-38) to a 9-6 victory over the Madison Mallards (33-28) on Friday at Carson Park.
He homered in the first inning, singled in the third inning, and doubled in the sixth inning.Philip Walby kept contact to a minimum, striking out eight the Madison Mallards batters. Walby allowed three earned runs on three hits and three walks over six innings.
It was a good day at the plate for the Madison Mallards' Jeff Zimmerman. Zimmerman went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the second inning.
