An awesome effort by Ben Moore hoisted the Alexandria Beetles (17-26) to a 15-5 win over the Duluth Huskies (24-19) on Thursday at Knute Nelson Memorial Park.
Moore racked up eight RBIs on five hits for the Alexandria Beetles. He singled in the third and fifth innings and homered in the first, sixth, and seventh innings.
The Alexandria Beetles blew out the Duluth Huskies thanks to 21 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Alexandria Beetles scored four runs in the sixth on a two-run single by Tanner Vavra, a solo home run by Moore, and an RBI single by Ryan Padilla.
The Duluth Huskies were led by Conor Szczerba's hitting. Szczerba went 3-4 and scored one run. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the second and ninth innings.
Shawn Riesgraf got the win, running his season record to 2-3. He allowed four runs over five innings. Riesgraf struck out six, walked one and gave up eight hits.
Joey Novak ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
