Matt Beaty had two extra base hits, helping the Alexandria Beetles (16-26) to a 7-2 victory over the Thunder Bay Border Cats (19-23) on Monday at Subway Field.

He homered in the second inning and doubled in the eighth inning.

Michael Reed brought the heat against the Thunder Bay Border Cats during his outing. Reed held the Thunder Bay Border Cats hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.

Danny Bethea racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Thunder Bay Border Cats. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the sixth inning.

Andrew Busby got the win, running his season record to 1-1. He allowed one run over three innings. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered four hits.

Kacy Kemmer was charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed four runs.

Dylan Raper, Tanner Vavra, Beaty and Robert Case helped lead the Alexandria Beetles. They combined for nine hits and five RBIs.
