Phillip Lyons collected three hits as the Thunder Bay Border Cats (17-22) took home a 7-2 victory over the Alexandria Beetles (14-25) at Subway Field on Sunday.
He doubled in the third inning and singled in the first and fifth innings.The Alexandria Beetles had no answer for Garrett Hughes, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Alexandria Beetles managed just one hit off of the the Thunder Bay Border Cats' pitcher, who allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out five during his six innings of work.
Scott Sanderson (0-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed seven runs in six innings, walked two and struck out one.
