The Wisconsin Woodchucks fend off the Battle Creek Bombers' late push, hold on 4-2

The Battle Creek Bombers (14-24) were never able to get over the hump and overcome their troubles against the Wisconsin Woodchucks (20-18) on Saturday, as the Battle Creek Bombers fell 4-2 at Athletic Park after falling behind by three runs in the third inning.

The Battle Creek Bombers scored on a sacrifice fly by Sikes Orvis in the fourth inning and a sacrifice fly by AJ Spanel in the fifth inning. Despite their efforts, the Battle Creek Bombers couldn't finish the comeback.

Jake Peter put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Wisconsin Woodchucks. He doubled in the sixth inning and homered in the eighth inning.

J.D. Davis racked up 10 strikeouts in the the Wisconsin Woodchucks win. Davis allowed one earned run, three hits and three walks over seven innings.

A bright spot for the Battle Creek Bombers in the defeat was Joe Battistelli, who allowed only three runs while striking out seven.

Battistelli was charged with his second loss of the year.

The Wisconsin Woodchucks were sparked by Peter and Skyler Ewing, who teamed up for three hits and four RBIs.
