The Alexandria Beetles (14-25) outlasted the Thunder Bay Border Cats (17-22) on Saturday after four lead changes, squeaking out a 4-2 win at Subway Field.
Ben Moore racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Alexandria Beetles. He homered in the fifth inning and singled in the seventh inning.
Alex Guilford shut down the Thunder Bay Border Cats while he was on the mound. Guilford held the Thunder Bay Border Cats hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.
A bright spot for the Thunder Bay Border Cats in the defeat was Blake Fonfara, who allowed only two runs while striking out six.
Jason Kafka ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
