The Thunder Bay Border Cats survive the Rochester Honkers 4-3 thanks to Kay's late-game heroics

Brett Kay brought home the winning run to give the Thunder Bay Border Cats (16-19) the lead in the sixth inning, as the Thunder Bay Border Cats hung on to beat the Rochester Honkers (15-20) 4-3 on Wednesday.

After Omar Cotto was hit by a pitch, Kay came to the plate with one out in the sixth and doubled, scoring Cotto.

Cotto reached base three times. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He homered in the first inning and singled in the second inning.

Carl ONeal was effective even in defeat, mowing down six the Thunder Bay Border Cats batters and allowing two runs.

Mitch McQueen got the win, running his season record to 1-2. McQueen struck out none, walked two and gave up two hits.

Dylan Nelson was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked none, struck out four, and allowed two runs.
