Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Saturday as the Lakeshore Chinooks (15-16) outscored the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (14-16) 10-8.
The two teams combined for 17 hits in the game.
The Lakeshore Chinooks held off the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters, as the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters were unable to overcome a nine-run third inning deficit.
The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters scored on an RBI home run by Tommy Danczyk, an RBI single by Joshua Cyr, and a three-run home run by Alex Bacon in the sixth inning, a sacrifice fly by Aaron Gretz in the seventh inning, and a groundout by Jordan Dreiling in the eighth inning. Despite their efforts, the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters couldn't get over the hump.
Ty Young racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Lakeshore Chinooks. He tripled in the first inning and singled in the second inning.
Tyler Sparger shut down the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters while he was on the mound. Sparger held the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.
Eric King recorded his second win of the year for the Lakeshore Chinooks. He allowed four runs over 5 2/3 innings. He struck out two, walked three and surrendered five hits.
Cole Webb (2-1) took the loss for the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. He allowed eight runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked five and struck out two.
