The Willmar Stingers (6-7) jumped out to an early lead on the Thunder Bay Border Cats and captured a 14-2 victory on Sunday at Subway Field.

The game was decided quickly as the Willmar Stingers exerted their will early with nine runs in the first three innings.

, a two-run double by Steve Talbott, a wild pitch, , and a three-run double by Hunter Dozier in the first inning helped the Willmar Stingers put some runs on the board early.

Michael Suchy put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Willmar Stingers. He doubled in the sixth and eighth innings.

Justin Higley racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Thunder Bay Border Cats (5-8). He singled in the first and fourth innings and homered in the sixth inning.

Jerad McCrummen improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Willmar Stingers. He allowed two runs over seven innings. McCrummen struck out two, walked two and gave up six hits.

James Buckelew (0-1) took the loss for the Thunder Bay Border Cats. He allowed seven runs in two-thirds of an inning, walked six and struck out one.

Mitch Rowan, Talbott, Suchy and Dozier helped lead the Willmar Stingers. They combined for seven hits and nine RBIs.
