The Thunder Bay Border Cats defeat the Alexandria Beetles after late game single, 7-3

The Thunder Bay Border Cats (2-4) took the last of four lead changes in a back-and-forth affair against the Alexandria Beetles (2-4), securing a 7-3 victory on Monday at Subway Field.

Matt Jones paced the Thunder Bay Border Cats at the plate. Jones went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the third, fifth, and seventh innings.

Coley Bruns baffled the Alexandria Beetles, striking out nine batters. Bruns allowed two earned runs on seven hits and no walks over six innings.

David Garcia did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Alexandria Beetles, reaching base four times. He singled in the first, third, and fifth innings.

Blake Fonfara got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed one run over one inning. He struck out two, walked two and surrendered one hit.

Mathew Dietman was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked none, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
