Michael Benjamin went 3-3 at the plate, helping the Rochester Honkers (13-19) to a 5-1 victory over the Thunder Bay Border Cats (15-17) on Sunday at Mayo Field.
He singled in the first and third innings and doubled in the seventh inning.The Rochester Honkers got the win thanks in large part to Elliott Engle's dominant, seven-strikeout performance. Engle allowed no earned runs on six hits and no walks over eight innings.
Scott Donley was hot from the plate for the Thunder Bay Border Cats. Donley went 3-4. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the fourth and ninth innings.
Kurtis McCallum (0-1) took the loss for the Thunder Bay Border Cats. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed three runs.
