The Rochester Honkers jump on the Thunder Bay Border Cats early and coast to 13-6 win

The Rochester Honkers (13-19) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Thunder Bay Border Cats (15-17), recording a 13-6 victory on Saturday at Mayo Field.

The game was decided quickly as the Rochester Honkers exerted their will early with eight runs in the first three innings.

A solo home run by Dakota Smith and a home run by Ben Lahn during the first inning and a three-run home run by Trevor Podratz in the second inning helped the Rochester Honkers put some runs on the board early.

Lahn racked up five RBIs on three hits for the Rochester Honkers.

Brett Kay racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Thunder Bay Border Cats. He homered in the eighth inning and singled in the ninth inning.

Brandon Zywicki got his first win for the Rochester Honkers despite allowing five runs over seven innings. He struck out four, walked three and surrendered four hits.

Will Kenny (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one inning, walked two, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
