The Thunder Bay Border Cats defeat the Alexandria Beetles after late game, 8-5

The Thunder Bay Border Cats (1-1) and the Alexandria Beetles (1-1) passed the lead back and forth four times on Thursday at Knute Nelson Memorial Park, but in the end the Thunder Bay Border Cats pulled out an 8-5 win over the Alexandria Beetles.

The Thunder Bay Border Cats pulled out the win thanks to a strong third inning. Scored Matt Jones and Jones and gave the Thunder Bay Border Cats the lead for good.

Jones racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Thunder Bay Border Cats. He doubled in the seventh inning and singled in the ninth inning.

Jon Traetow did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Alexandria Beetles, reaching base two times. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He homered in the fourth inning.

Wes Parsons got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed three runs over seven innings. He struck out five, walked one and surrendered nine hits.

Mitchell Babb was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked eight, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
