The Thunder Bay Border Cats fall 12-3 at the hands of the Alexandria Beetles

The Alexandria Beetles (1-1) pounded the Thunder Bay Border Cats (1-1) on Wednesday 12-3 at Knute Nelson Memorial Park.

The Alexandria Beetles scored four runs in the fifth on a wild pitch, a two-run double by Dylan Raper, an RBI double by Will Fulmer, and an RBI single by Johnny Tolson.

Fulmer led the Alexandria Beetles' offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He scored four runs and had one RBI.

The Thunder Bay Border Cats had no answer for Mathew Dietman, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Dietman held the Thunder Bay Border Cats hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one.

Scott Donley had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He homered in the second inning, singled in the fifth inning, and doubled in the seventh inning.

Michael Reed got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed one run over four innings. He struck out two, walked two and surrendered five hits.

Coley Bruns was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed six runs in four innings, walked five and struck out five.
