The Ontario offense too much for the Newfoundland and Labrador in 11-2 rout

The Ontario (3-0) jumped out to an early lead on the Newfoundland and Labrador (0-3) and captured an 11-2 victory on Friday at Midget Municipal Stadium.

The game was decided quickly as the Ontario exerted their will early with six runs in the first three innings.

An RBI double by Sean Refflinghaus, a sacrifice fly by Mike Ambrose, a sacrifice fly by Ambrose, an error, and an error in the first inning helped the Ontario put some runs on the board early.

Ambrose put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Ontario.

Garan Stevens looked sharp on the mound. Stevens held the Newfoundland and Labrador hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Kyle Zimmer improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Ontario. He allowed two runs over five innings. He struck out nine, walked four and surrendered three hits.

Randy Reid (0-1) took the loss for the Newfoundland and Labrador. He allowed nine runs in 5 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out one.

The Ontario were sparked by Ambrose and Refflinghaus, who teamed up for five hits and two RBIs.
