Bobby Boyd brought home the winning run to give the Matsu Miners (14-21) the lead in the seventh inning, as the Matsu Miners hung on to beat the Anchorage Bucs (18-17) 3-2 on Wednesday.
Ian Sagdal was hit by a pitch to start the seventh. He then went from first to second on a stolen base. Finally, Boyd came to the plate with the score tied at two, and reached on an error, bringing home Sagdal.Ross Mitchell baffled the Anchorage Bucs, striking out six batters. Mitchell allowed two earned runs, five hits and two walks over six innings.
Jimmy Reed recorded his first win of the year for the Matsu Miners. Reed struck out none, walked none and gave up no hits.
Ben Doucette ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
