Things looked bleak for the Alaska Goldpanners (16-18) when they trailed by three runs in the ninth inning, but the Alaska Goldpanners recovered thanks to a key single in the tenth inning from Kurt Schlangen to pull out a 4-3 win in 10 innings over the Peninsula Oilers (19-17) at Growden Memorial Park.
With the score tied at three in the tenth inning, Schlangen came to the plate and singled, scoring Chris Lee.
Schlangen racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Alaska Goldpanners. He singled in the seventh, ninth, and tenth innings.
Patrick Hennessey improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Alaska Goldpanners. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered no hits.
