Martinez gives the Peninsula Oilers late push to beat the Matsu Miners, 5-3

Frank Martinez brought home the go-ahead run to give the Peninsula Oilers (18-13) the lead in the sixth inning, as the Peninsula Oilers hung on to beat the Matsu Miners (12-19) 5-3 on Wednesday.

With the score tied at one, Martinez came to the plate and homered, plating Trey Richardson and Josh Delph.

Martinez racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Peninsula Oilers. He homered in the sixth inning.

The Peninsula Oilers would not relinquish the lead as the Matsu Miners were unable to weather a three-run sixth inning deficit.

The Matsu Miners scored two runs in the eighth on a two-run double by Chris Taladay. Still, the Matsu Miners couldn't catch the Peninsula Oilers.

Jon Maciel got the win, running his season record to 4-2. He allowed one run over five innings. He struck out three, walked two and surrendered two hits.

Ross Mitchell (3-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just five innings, walked three, struck out six, and allowed four runs.
