Clint Freeman brought home the winning run to give the Matsu Miners (12-19) the lead in the seventh inning, as the Matsu Miners hung on to beat the Chugiak Chinooks (12-15) 4-2 on Monday.
Tino Lipson singled to start the seventh. He then went from first to second on a stolen base. Finally, Freeman came to the plate with the score tied at two, and singled, plating Lipson.Lipson paced the Matsu Miners at the plate. Lipson went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the second and seventh innings.
The Chugiak Chinooks had no answer for Tyler Davis, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Chugiak Chinooks managed just three hits off of the the Matsu Miners' pitcher, who allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out five during his 4 2/3 innings of work.
Tanner Anderson recorded his second win of the year for the Matsu Miners. He allowed one run over two innings. He struck out none, walked one and surrendered no hits.
Tommy Kister (1-2) took the loss for the Chugiak Chinooks. He lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
