The Peninsula Oilers (12-9) and the Chugiak Chinooks (10-9) passed the lead back and forth four times on Friday at Coral Seymour Memorial Park, but in the end the Peninsula Oilers pulled out a 5-4 win over the Chugiak Chinooks.
Trey Richardson racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Peninsula Oilers. He singled in the first and sixth innings and doubled in the eighth inning.
John Straka looked sharp on the mound. The Chugiak Chinooks managed just two hits off of the the Peninsula Oilers' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his three innings of work.
Despite the loss, the Chugiak Chinooks' Caleb Dirks dominated the Peninsula Oilers' batters, giving up two runs and striking out nine.
Nigel Nootbaar improved to 1-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Peninsula Oilers. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered no hits.
Jacob Howell (1-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked two, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
